FAQ
Q: Is there a "Whisker Free" Tin?
A: There has been a lot of confusion in regards to the ROHS compliance concerning Tin Whiskers. To our knowledge there is not an ROHS compliant tin solution that is whisker free. In order to prevent whiskers, there are trace amounts of lead in standard tin systems that prevent whiskers from being an issue.
There are whisker "resistant" tins that perform like tin and steps can be taken to mitigate the risk of whiskering, but not eliminate it 100%. Contact us to inquire about some of the Lead Free tin systems that we plate.
